System Perspective

A work system is a collection of efforts channeled towards a particular goal or task and requiring more than one person to accomplish it. (Schwartz, 2019). There exist several components of the work system which make up any organization. These systems work hand in hand to achieve a common goal in the organization.

Systems in My Workplace

All work systems are made up of several features that affect the whole system. These features depend on each other and function as one to create an entire system. These features in my workplace are as follows.

Information System

An information system is a type of system whose features and activities are meant to process data. These are systems designed to perform a specific function on a computer system that people and organizations use to gather and process data. The information system is an essential identity in any workplace.

Service System

This system is designed to serve clients. Inputs and resources in the organization are used to provide services that satisfy the needs of the client. The service system ranges from a single customer to delivering services globally.

Supply Chain

the supply chain is an element meant for sourcing resources and materials needed in the workplace. It ensures all the inputs and materials required for smooth running in the workplace are available. The system procures materials from suppliers. These systems are interdependent. If one system fails, others also fail. For example, if you fail to procure inputs, you will not have information or products to deliver.

System approach used in my organization and its effects

Organizational success or failure depends on how it can utilize the people, technology, and processes to develop the organization’s performance and abilities and deliver value. In my organization, the system approach was used to assess enterprises as one complete system in which its components work together. Making changes to any of these components would affect the whole business. When we understand this, we can make a better decision that will provide remedies to our challenges.

Ways of improving processes in the organization using the fifth discipline

Various ways can be used to improve processes in an organization. Using the fifth discipline there are five disciplines, which include the following.

1). Shared Vision

If all organization workers have the same vision as a company’s vision, there will be a success at the personal level and the company’s status. Employees will automatically participate in the accomplishment of the company’s image. People don’t work for their good but the common good of the company.

2). Team Learning

Working together as a team will lead to better performance in the company as compared to working individually. Each member of the group can share ideas and thus lead to better results and performance. All members should be willing to sacrifice their interests for the common good of the team.

3). Personal Mastery

This discipline argues that an individual has to keep working continuously and with a target of attaining a particular goal, preserving one’s characters and values. One has to realize the reality which exists. Management staff needs to have some strategy which can push the employers to work hard.one of the plan is encouraging recognition. When employers perform beyond expectations, they should be recognized.

As discussed above, a system in the workplace depends on each other. Change in one system affects the other. Leaders should encourage teamwork among employees. Employees should have a shared vision to ensure the goals and vision of a company are achieved.
