Technological Abuse in Classrooms
In this modern world, technology has revolutionized, making several individuals in various sectors have access to technology. Technology has been introduced in classrooms whereby students have access to the internet, computers, and other forms of technological devices. However, this revolutionized technology has come along with a significant number of challenges. According to Cassidy, Technological abuse in the classrooms has been on the rise, with some of them contributing to lower grades recorded by students. One typical form of technological abuse is the use of technology to perform tasks that can be performed without technology.
With the availability of a diverse number of applications installed on electronic devices, one can perform every task with a click of a button. Therefore, in order to tame misuse of technology, it will be best for institutions and teachers to roll out a strategy that will see to it that a certain percentage of coursework is submitted in handwritten form. Failure to submit, for example, 40% of your coursework n handwritten form, will lead to academic punishment whereby a student will lose a certain assigned percentage for failure to reach the required threshold. The technological fix to this situation could entail the employment of software that will systematically highlight electronically generated course responses as well as the handwritten course responses. The software will then determine the workload done manually and those done electronically. As a result, this will prompt students to employ technology only when it is absolutely necessary. Therefore, the chances of technological abuse will be mitigated. Technology, which, on many occasions, has encouraged laziness in classrooms, will be addressed.
