Telehealth
Telehealth is the delivery of health education, health care, and health information services through remote technologies. There are various technologies used in the delivery of treatment, such as mobile health applications, live video, remote patient monitoring, and “store and forward’ electronic transmission. Recent enhancements in technology have made in-person appointments by patients less mandatory. However, there is plenty of pro and cons affiliated with the procedure.
Primarily telehealth was established for its pros rather than the cons which are associated with the delivery. A significant benefit of the system is reaching clients who are in rural regions. These clients require assistance from medical practitioners, but they are unable to receive the best care due to distance. Moreover, utilization of the application helps cut down costs, save time to visit patients and reduce illness spread. The above factors help organizations maximize profits and maintain time allocated to patients ensuring they are served well. Furthermore, adopting telehealth helps medics reduce cancellations by clients while reaching more clients serving the purpose of treatment of many patients.
Despite the immense positives, telehealth does have various cons, such as the over-reliance on the internet. It can be difficult for individuals who live in regions with poor connectivity, as they will find it difficult to access the service. Moreover, the application requires technological devices that can be challenging for individuals coming from previous generations. Furthermore, utilizing the application limits patient assessment of patients since there are specific diagnoses uploaded, and new diagnosis requires the administrators to have fresh uploads.
In conclusion, telehealth has come to allow for the advancement of medicine; thus, patients can receive medical assistance from their homes’ comfort. Despite positives, the dominant downside occurs when some generations find a challenge in learning how to use it. However, people can be taught how to use various technological advancement; thus, they remain updated. Telehealth should be allowed to be implemented globally as it is the new method of service delivery. Change is inevitable, and people ought to adapt and make initiatives on how to utilize the technology, therefore, ensuring they advance in life.
