As I have already stated, my final paper has tried to take a cross-examination on popular 20th-century music (Click) exploring phrases rhymes, psychological approaches, narrative theory, and current music analytical tools thereby (Click) understanding music composition from different perspectives. In his song “Gods Plan” Drake decide to use charity action to communicate to some of the themes that are in his song. Generosity involves private donation for the benefits of the general publicBarman, E. the social bases of philanthropy. Annual review of sociology. I chose the song “Gods Plane” due to the fact that Drake songs have broken records and he has won numerous awards from his artwork. (Click) Drake has successfully used either moderato or allegretto tempo in his song depending on the message he wants to convey.
Within 2 weeks, the song became the leading solo male and the song stayed at the summit for 10 weeks. Wizkid and Kyla who were the featuring stars “One Dance”, stayed on the billboard for 2 weeks. Of the total 1,071 songs in Hot 100’s, “Gods Plan” song is at number 36 No. 1 songs to have stayed at the top for at least 10 weeks and to have risen to the top in its first 10 weeks. Currently, the song is at # 01 on the billboard and it has an approximate 127,000 sales one week of its realization. The song was planned to feature Trippie Red and is massively teased on Instagram.
Just to give you an approximate beat per minute in Drake song, the average tempo has been measured at 77 bpm.
But I will not only give you cold hand numbers for we all know that numbers and statistical figures are not sufficient to convince you of the implication of this tempo. According to research conducted, music tempo has effects on performance, physiological and psychological responses. The research showed that mood disturbances and tension increase with an increase in the tempo of a song. By using a slow tempo (77bpm) Drake is able to communicate to his audience without raising their tension.
As the song is starting there are people walking in the city and Drake walks giving them arms and other donations. Drake choice of tempo is suited for this kind of environment and it is able to accommodate the pace of those walking. Some parts of the song use allegretto tempo which is quite higher than the moderato. (Click) I am going to tell you the message that drake wish to communicate in various stances and perhaps give you the interpolation of what he meant. But before I do that, I would like you to look at this video carefully. This is how Drake song begins clear, people working and Drack giving a donation.

But wait … it appears we more than one theme in this song. Drake has used the song to communicate his successful musical journey and the fame, wealth and power that he enjoys. He, however, states that he is surrounded by many enemies who wish him many bad things because they are jealous of him. He states that he has been able to walk through all these obstacles and move from grace to grace. He sums up the song by saying it’s by the grace and the plan of God that he has been able to acquire the remarkable success he is enjoying. The lyric categories entail
(Click): In the introduction part the song chant repetitively “they wish”. Drake is referring to the reality that many enemies have been born in his carrier journey who wish to stop him. But all their wish has until now remained as mere wishes. It is well known that Drake has been in war with some musician like Chris Brown, Joe Budden, and Meek Mill.
(Click): Drake insists that the other artists are jealous of him and that’s where the hatred comes from. They wish to see him dead. He says that he has been avoiding conflicting this enemy but at times he is forced into it. Drake does not wish to die so that other artist will moan in his burial. Drake wants across friend to worn his enemies thus communicating that he wishes to reconcile with them.
(Click): in the chorus part Drake states that so far it has been Gods doing and he shows the palace where he grew up. He says that he brought up at Weston Road and he learned his artistic work from Bruno Mars, who taught him to be perfect in what he does. He states that if he dies he should be branded immortal. Artist is praised more when they die than when they are alive. For an instant, Michael Jackson sales hit a record soon after his death. If this had happened before his death it could have saved him from the devastating death.
(Click): In the post-chorus Drake says that he has many enemies who wish he was dead but they wish will not come true any time soon. In this part, he sings “She says, “Do you love me?” I tell her, “Only partly” I only love my bed and my momma, I’m sorry”. In this part, he communicates and says that we may have a good friend but at times the healing we need comes from our mother “Drake – God’s Plan (Lyrics Review And Song Meaning) – Justrandomthings”. 2019. (Click) Eventually, he tries to communicate through his charitable action and says that God will continue to bless him so that he can continue with his charity actions. His charity actions are not told but are evidence though it appears he has a hidden agenda.

I will analyze the meanings of some of the terms we have discussed in the paper. We will begin with an allegretto tempo.
(Click) Slide7
Allegretto music tempo is an indication to play somewhat quickly. The beat per minute for Allegretto music is between 100-128 which is a bit faster than andante but quite slow compared to Allegro.
(Click) Slide 8
The moderate a music tempo that is faster than andante but a bit slower than allegretto. That is to say that the beat per minute (Bpm) is less than 100.
(Click) Slide 9
The tempo is slow to go with the same pace as that of folks walking at the start of the video of the song. The slow tempo helps Drake to communicate clearly and precisely. Listeners are able to hear Drakes message and sympathize with him since he talks about his own life and what he has gone through.

Artist and music writer use different tempo for different purposes. Moderato tempo is a common tempo and is used in many other songs such songs include: I’ll write a song for you – Pattie LaBelle, Leaving You – Running Potatoes, and The Death Song – Marylin Manson.

I can say that Drake uses charity to communicate a hidden message to his listeners that despite the things he is going through he has remained to prosper and he is willing to share his success with others even with his enemies. (Click) hence the song is a trap rather than a rap. The charity work in the song is not to the best of the citizens but rather a communication to his enemies that he is still moving on and excelling in his carrier and thus they should keep off. “God’s plan” tempo determines the genre that has been used in the song

At the beginning of this paper, I stated that songs have psychological and physiological impacts. The impacts are stimulating not only by the lyrics of the song but also by the tempo which is used. When the tempo is fast, it creates a mental disturbance and raises the tension of its listeners. Therefore, it was very crucial for Drake to choose the best combination of the two so that he could communicate his message effectively. Thus, I can conclude that tempo and lyrics are ingredients that are used by the artist to communicate their message. Using any of the two affects the whole combination and thus affects the whole song.
