Texas A&M University
In three years, I worked from the lead office assistant to an executive assistant for the dean of faculties at Texas A&M University, where I developed an interest in industrial-organizational psychology[JM1] . The challenges posed by the current global pandemic on organization require my skills and experience alongside the knowledge acquired from pursuing a Masters in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from your institution. Notably, hiring processes, human resources management, and organizational processes are evolving as employers consider letting people work from home forever. A chance to pursue a Master’s Degree in organizational psychology from your institution will set me on the path to achieving personal goals while assisting organizations to implement policies in their human resources and management programs, by informing on ways decrease occupational stress, burnout, and turnover and increase efficacy in the wake of the new normal. A Master’s degree from [insert institution here] will enable me to pursue my interests in industrial-organizational psychology and put to practice my knowledge and experience[JM3] to improve organizational processes and contribute knowledge to research.
My ambition to master ways to improve workplaces and hiring processes is a culmination of my academics and work experiences. I graduated with a degree in political science from Texas A&M University with a 3.12. While working at Texas A&M University, I enrolled for a degree in Psychology at the University of Florida and will graduate in December 2020 with a 4.0 GPA. Working as a lab manager and study coordinator, I helped assess the correlation between burnout, mood, and occupational stress. As stated in my resume, I am currently a research assistant in analyzing interviews on quantitative and qualitative individual. Earlier on, I worked as an undergraduate research assistant at the Texas Disease Diagnosis Lab, where I managed medical and supply processes. As recent global health concerns threaten the workplace, I am curious about how human resources will adapt to employees’ needs and how the work environment changes will influence employees. With skills in meta-analysis, research, policy development, and human resource management, a master’s degree from your institution will empower me to research ways to reshape work norms and ethics, which will change as organizations adopt the new normal.[JM4]
My work experience spans from working in human resources to being a lab manager and research assistant[JM5] . I have an expansive knowledge of payroll, budgeting, and production management from[JM6] Texas A&M University and the University of Kentucky, where I worked in various capacities. I believe my knowledge of research and statistical analysis from being a research assistant and lab manager, alongside other skills such as data management skills, is critical to my ability to pursue the Master’s program successfully. These skills are further needed in the world today as it evolves into the fourth industrial revolution. My understanding of political science and psychology, including global perspectives from working as a research and lab assistant in the UK, was particularly useful in leading the Continuing Education and Professional Development Department at the University of Kentucky’s College of Nursing. The skills horned in the three years at the University helped me complete a report on the University’s re-accreditation report to ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation) – work that required attention to detail and critical thinking. My knowledge on psychology, research, qualitative analysis, leadership, psychometrics and learning experience provide me with a unique perspective and insight into organizations and human resources. My interests have since evolved into researching and hiring processes and the conscious and unconscious bias within the hiring processes.[JM7]
Your certification and my hard work, research skills and ambitions and experience will enable me to achieve my goals of leading the organization/industrial psychology, bring much-needed change to human resources in the wake of a changing working environment.
