The Approach Plan Taken On Impact of Technology on Social Works
Social works are a vital factor in the development of any community. The approach plan I plan to undertake is grounded of the following fields in any given population: the health and sanitation docket, the infrastructure sector, housing sector, school sector and lastly social facilities sector (Raniga, 2018)
The plan generally is to make an impact accordingly in the following areas mentioned above. The projects, however, must relate to the current state of modern developed technologies in every industry, as discussed above. I also will partake community mobilization concerning the local community residents and even their leaders.
Career and Field Of Interest
The career that I chose to partake is community development at degree level. The career path is exciting and mainly deals with people who are social beings. The profession mostly deals with social works as you work with people in the local communities. The reason as to why I am interested in this field is that I love engaging with people in the community set-up regardless of their different social classes. The most exciting thing is that I love to help the needy and the vulnerable in society.
The valid reasons stated above are the key reason as to why I chose community development as my career path. Moreover, the profession has various vast areas that one can engage and exploit their full potential, fulfilling their dreams, and still make an impact on society.
The Attraction to This Particular Field
The main primary attraction to this field of community development as it deals with impacting people’s lives. The impacts of this social work process are favorable to the community at large. The fact that we can empower the youth in the community through various community projects truly that is technology-related or not gladdens my heart. The noble reason that we can empower women and fight for their rights at the community level is also a kind gesture (Thorpe, 2017)
The other factor that lured me into wanting to join this sector is that it is a lucrative and well-paying job. The government well supports the industry through the ministry of social works and gender. Suffocate funds to support community-based development projects are well dispersed at the community level. Other stakeholders, like foreign donors, come in hand a way of showing support to the local community development. Last, the fact that I will join a profession that deals with helping the needy and vulnerable in society were an indicator that I was headed in the right direction.
The Impacts of the Past, Current and Developing Technology in Social Works Sector
The social work sector has various dockets in play. The advancement of modern technology in multiple areas has made our work easier as social workers and community development officers. The social work docket has, in the past, faced various challenges. The good olden days had enormous problems like weak drainage system, poor service delivery mechanism, and poor health care system, lastly poor structure in place for the empowerment of the youth and women in the society.
The new technology has come up with various solutions to address our problems in the community. The development of a modern technological drainage system has been put in place, where drainage materials can be channeled to a specific area by the use of computers and be recycled by modern machines. The internet has made work even more manageable as people order goods or services through the various platform, and they are delivered to them. Public health works are not so afraid in case of a pandemic or disease outbreak occurring as most of the people have health care insurance policies. The government has put up offices at every state that addresses the needs of the youth and women empowerment, thus making it easier for us as social workers as we can provide counseling services to such individuals at those offices.
The current state of affairs has been useful in the social works and community development field. Many individuals embrace the systems put in place by various sectors for efficient service delivery. The main work as social works current it to make sure that the general public well follows the guideline put in place. The best example is litter disposal on the streets. Every corner of the road has in place a dustbin. We as a social worker have the right to sue an individual who does not follow the public hygiene policies to the local authorities (Wheaton & Olive, 2017)
The other big challenge that we, as social workers, face currently is on the issue of gender-based violence. Many women tend to confide in us through our various talks sections with the general public. The women tend to call us to save them if they find themselves in very tricky situations. We first engage local authorities. If there charges to be pressed, then we continue to guide and counsel the affected parties. The new technology of mobile phone has introduced various internet platforms like what’s app where we can engage the individuals (World Health Organization, 2015)
The developing technology has been a great aid to us as social workers. The future is bright for us as the new technology has made our work even more comfortable. The case of garbage and litter collection can be done by programmed machines popularly known as robots, which can pic and drop dustbin cans into the collecting vehicle. The invention of new technologies like cut cameras in-home and public places has reduced cases of violence in-home and also enhanced cleanliness at various open corridors as the individuals are aware they are being watched, thus making our work even more straightforward.
The Importance of Remaining Updated In Technology in the Social Works Field
The social works arena has a vast department that can be explored. The importance of being up to date on the various technological enhancements is very vital for a social worker. The best example is on the issue of building or renovation of a social facility. As a social worker, you need to engage experts in the field of architecture and constriction which will come up with latest technological designs for the construction of a social hall as a good example (Gahagan, et al., .2015)
The other example is on the issue of health social worker. Technology has provided an enormous machine that can be used to test for various diseases within minutes. During local health camps, the social workers can use the technological devices to check the general public I such forums and events organized.
Ways to Remain Updated In the Technological Field Of Social Works
The social work field has various dockets, as illustrated above. The best way to be updated in the said field to provide efficient service delivery to the general public is to read and do research about how social services can be delivered well, also benchmark other countries, and see how that individual offers their assistance. This information can be found on the internet through forums like youtube.
Lastly, the other method to enhance effective social works delivery is by regular engagement with the locals. The people in the community can suggest changes in their community set-up, and you can comply and grant their wishes.
