The Benefits of Frank Enrolling in a Fitness Walking Program
The benefits of enrolling for a fitness walking program are vast and can be categorized differently depending on its impact on the person undertaking it. In this case, we’ll categorize them into three distinct groups: Mental benefits, physical benefits, and other benefits.
First, let us start with the physical benefits that Frank would gain if he enrolls for such a program. Given Frank’s health condition, which can be highlighted by the following ailments: hypertension, a recent heart attack, and possibly arthritis, the fitness walking program can have the following physical benefits.
Walking would help Frank lose weight and maintain proper weight, which, as a result, would reduce stress on joints and improve symptoms of arthritis. Arthritis can be painful and cause discomfort, especially if you’ve used the joint a lot. Such a fitness program would help Frank be a bit comfortable by easing any pains on his joints, which would mean that he can sleep better and relax. Walking also reduces the risk of heart diseases and stroke; it also increases heart and lung fitness. Which would mean that Frank can be at ease knowing that he has reduced any significant risks of getting a heart attack, which he had two months ago. Frank would save on any future medical bills that would arise as a result of heart-related ailments. The last physical benefit would be that it helps improve the management of high blood pressure and hypertension, strengthen bones, and improve body balance and reduce body fat. Frank was diagnosed with hypertension, which seems like a hereditary ailment. The program would help Frank manage his existing hypertension condition much better and be less likely to suffer from hypertension.
Frank has not been sleeping well due to struggles with stress management. He also suffers from slight depression. Walking has not only physical benefits but mental benefits as well. Some of the mental benefits he’d enjoy include: improved sleep quality reduced stress levels and helps people suffering from depression recover. Frank would benefit personally from the program in the following ways: walking is a form of exercise which could bring about increased self-esteem which is an issue when one is in depression, as a result of the physical benefits of walking Frank can feel better about himself, and that may help reduce his depression levels. Walking can help sharpen one’s thinking and introduce a calm, serene mood, which ultimately reduces stress levels; Frank can use walking to change his usual environment and thereby reduce his stress levels by being in a calm state of mind (Olafsdottir et al. 250). Lastly, walking can improve sleep patterns since it is a form of exercise, meaning that after a walk, Frank would be tired, and with a good bath and a nice meal, he can sleep well as he will be tired.
Other benefits of a fitness walking program would be building stamina, rejuvenating oneself, and increasing the longevity of life. Frank would benefit from these benefits in the following ways walking improves muscle strength and endurance which ultimately would build stamina in Frank, Frank can also be able to change or better his mood through walking as it boosts one’s mind, and body which can give him a feel-good factor and lastly walking would keep Frank fit hence preventing any age-related conditions like diabetes which would add Frank more years of life in the long run.
