The Big Five Personality Traits
Personalities traits are definite physiognomies that depict how an individual is alleged by any other person around them or by how people think they are. Our characters define who we are, Mathews & Whiteman (2003) stated that Approximately fifty percent of the personalities traits are a result of family genetics, while the upbringing of the individual influences the half. The big five personality traits are the specific traits defining a person developed in the 1980s as taxonomy traits (Komarraju er al., 2011). This paper aims to describe to what degree I exhibit each of the five traits. It explores my personality traits, revealing which ones I’m perfect in and the ones I’m less perfect in then apply the given results to give my personal experience.
Extroversion
In this trait, I got a score of sixty-two percent. According to the scoreboard, I am a social person, ready to engage with people and make new friends in every walk of life. For instance, when I joined the campus in the first month, I had managed to make a good number of friends who we would hangout after classes, mostly over a cup of coffee. Furthermore, during the weekends we would take a walk inside campus us we unwind.
Agreeableness
This is the trait that I got the highest score of seventy-five. According to this trait, I am an empathetic and altruistic individual. Good life experience is when I participated in charity walks to raise money to support the needy, furthermore, during my free time I take approximately half a day to go and visit individuals in the hospital taking care of them and nurturing them. Consequently, by doing this, I am able to touch the lives of the sick individuals, by showing them that people care.
For this trait, I scored very low, attaining a score of forty-four. It indicates that I’m less careful and less diligent. Real-life experience is when I got a part-time job at a burger shop; I tried my best to please the customers to no avail. Apparently, I messed up the orders and sometimes even forgot to serve other clients. Furthermore, as a result of my behavior, the manager was forced .to let me go, which is a clear indication of why I got the low score.
Openness
This is the only trait that I got an average score of fifty percent. Therefore, I am neither weak nor good at the trait. According to life experience, I tend to be more traditional when it comes to outlook and behavior. I tend to dress in a reasonable way, not too flamboyant, and also not too traditional. On the other hand, sometimes I like to try out new things and experiences, for instance, I love fashion; therefore, I am always trying new clothes, and also I love learning new things.
Neuroticism
This is the trait that I scored the lowest, scoring forty-three percent, indicating that I am more likely to handle stress and anxiety in a positive manner. For instance, in real-life experience, I had significant other who we dated for three years. However, good times don’t last forever, and we had to quit our relationship. I was able to handle the stress that follows after the breakup in just two weeks. On the other hand, the same can’t be said to my significant other who took months to get over the breakup.
In conclusion, I was able to score very highly in the agreeableness trait compared to the other four getting a score of seventy-five. Extroversion was the second trait with the highest score of sixty-two, followed by the openness with a score of fifty. Conscientiousness was the fourth will a score of forty-four and finally neuroticism with a score of forty-three.
