Unit 2 Question 1
The concept of stewardship is inclusive of the theological and environmental practical reasoning notions. Stewardship is, however, essential for a Christian health care administrator in the production of quality outcomes. Stewardship is an expression of our obedience regarding the administration of all that God has placed for us to take charge of. It is the Commitment of self and the possession to the services of God.
Therefore, a Christian health administrator is entitled to the responsibility of taking charge of health care administration with obedience and the utmost discipline to realize quality outcomes. The stewardship leadership potential in health care administration needs new care delivery models. Therefore there is a need to address the ever-changing nature of a Christian health administrator (Jansen et al., 2019). A Christian health care administrator can use the biblical concept of stewardship to ensure quality outcomes by considering the other four principles that integral in stewardship. These are the principle of responsibility, accountability, ownership, and reward.
As a good steward, a Christian health administrator should be responsible enough to transform the environment in which they operate. This responsibility’s expected and intended outcome is to make the environments healthier, safer, and more positive and engaging for patients (Brinkerhoff et al., 2019). As good stewards, God has given us the responsibility of managing that which belongs to Him. In this case, the human population belongs to Him. The only way a Christian administrator can exercise the biblical concept of stewardship is by exercising responsibility in the working environment. A steward manages the possessions of another person. Therefore, a Christian health care administrator should work diligently, remembering someday that they will give an account to God on how they managed that which had been placed for them to manage, and in this case, it is patient care. In the principle of ownership, God is the owner of everything, and therefore as managers and administrators, we ought to act on his behalf. Therefore, a Christian health administrator should have respect for patients and other practitioners (Nasiri, Takian & Yazdani, 2019). Finally, in the reward principle, in the book of Colossians 3:23-24, the bible states that we should do everything with our hearts as working for the Lord and not men because, at the end of it, there is an inheritance reward from the Lord. Therefore as a Christian health administrator, one should tirelessly work with all their might to deliver appropriate patient care and remember that they are working for the Lord.
In conclusion, the biblical concept of stewardship is vital for a Christian health administrator in quality service delivery. They can exercise good stewardship through the four vital principles necessary for disciplined and improved patient care.
