The day that changed my life draft
Childhood memories make the best part of human life. This is because it is associated with memories that play a significant role in the individual’s future. As children, we used to take the warnings of our parents about different things. This aspect made us think that our parents did not want us to enjoy doing the things, and we ended up trying the forbidden thing to see what happens if we did it. This aspect once happened to me, and it made me realize that it might cost us more than the enjoyment we thought. At the age of seven, I almost ruined a family trip due to my stubbornness and curiosity, which changed my life for good.
It was a family tradition that once every year, my parents would choose a place where we would visit during the holidays. Since we were younger in previous trips, they would choose a near place where we could travel by bus. Since the trip destinations were close, we could spend only a day or two and then come back home. Due to this reason, the trip by air was a completely new experience, and I could not control my level of curiosity as it was my first time into an airport. My expectations of the airport were relatively high as I wanted to know how things are done there as I could only see airports in movies.
We had waited for so long for the day to come. We were excited, and we could not believe that what was a plan was going to happen. We woke up early to prepare ourselves to be at the airport soon enough not to miss the flight. As a middle-class family, we had to be very careful as our parents had worked so hard to save the money for us to go for the trip. This travel was a once in a blue moon opportunity, and we were so delighted to go to a new place and explore other parts of the world. I did not know where we were going, but I was sure it was a beautiful place where my parents had longed to go and enjoy themselves.
The excitement was much increased when we reached the airport. The place was busy with people coming from other sites while others were leaving for other locations. People spoke different languages, which I could not hear. When we arrived at the airport, my siblings were left with our mother as our father confirmed the tickets and asked for the departure time. Before he left, he warned us not to cause any troubles and to stay together. Suddenly, the mother received a call and moved to a silent place to receive it. From where we were seated, I could see planes land and leave the ground through the glass wall, which separated the waiting lobby and the runways.
Due to curiosity, I decided to go close to the glass wall to get a clear view of the runways. The sight was quite impressive, and before I realized I had moved some considerable distance in the direction the planes were landing from. When I saw a plane take off, I would move the direction it went to see it vanish, and before I realized, I was lost amidst the crowd and could not find the spot where my siblings were due to the number of people who moved in and out of the lobby. The people around looked strange, and I was terrified of being kidnapped. Therefore, I moved from one place to the other, searching for my way back to where I had left my parents, but I could not see them.
For some minutes, I tried to figure out where I had left them, but all the places I searched looked familiar. I could not know the distance I had moved, being carried away by the excitement. I wanted to shout and call out for my mother, but I was scared I would cause a commotion and maybe someone would know I was lost and kidnap me. I decided to search them from one section of the waiting area. I searched for them in different places. I thought my family could be, but I could not find them. I was worried and terrified that I would never see them again. I ran aimlessly as I was confused about what to do or where to go as I could not even trace my way back home.
After several minutes of confusion, fear, and running, I found myself in the gourd’s arms, who promised to help me find my parents after I calm down. After some calls, my father came to pick me. He was furious and disappointed in me. As we moved back to where my mother was, and siblings were, it was announced that the plane we were boarding had five minutes to leave the airport. We hurriedly got into the flight. My stubbornness and curiosity had almost ruined our travel. I, therefore, swore always to be disciplined and never to disobey my parents again.
