The Everglades situated in Florida are some of the most popular freshwater marshland systems around the globe. They comprise of interconnected wetlands. For this reason, human activities have been the primary disturbances and a vital instigator of environmental change; the Everglades has been exposed to similar situations since the 1930s. These disturbances, such as increased constructions by various people, the ecosystem biodiversity been massively affected. These can be divided into two aspects, namely water management policies, and the land-use policies. The primary one is the water management policies that comprise of installation of pumps, building of dams, canals and levels. These set of strategies were purposed to regulate the hydrology of the Everglades. Secondly, the land policies that are made up of division of the land for conservation f oater, urban facilities and agricultural land have also disturbed the area.

The casting off of the land use policies led an extreme adjustment in the mosaic of the region. Even so, these policies also aimed to increase the population of the area. The population growth Florida coupled with the fames that needed a steady supply of fertilizers as well as pesticides that led to an increase strain the Everglade ecosystem. The fight for efficient lead to the increased usage of the fertilizers and pesticides in the area for agricultural purposes therefore the proportion of pollutants such as nitrogen and phosphorus began to increase. Importantly, the agricultural segment of Everglade is the primary source of water population and it is made up of 700 acres with sugarcane planation covering nearly all of it. The increase in the population of this region as well as the developments provided the room for nitrogen overspill where there so no enough available land to disrupt the extra water from the rains or the floods. Therefore, the excess nutrients arising from the sugarcane plantations led to not only the structural change but also the functionality of the pristine locations. These disturbances massively affected the biodiversity of the system.

In addition, resilience in the socio-ecological systems has ability to help humans plan for the future. On many occasions, , social as well as ecological system takes place in many stable conditions, though, the system arrives at a edge or experiences a organization shift every time it changes a lot and starts to behave weirdly. The erosion of resilience as well as the flip of Everglades can be attributed to the previous struggles by the administration who tried to hold the system in a usually desired condition, more so for the aim of increasing the utmost supply of fish, forage, timber and other natural resources.

In the case study of Everglades, there are two regimes in several linkages that could take place in a single stage of the adaptive cycle. So to determine the thresholds, there is the need to imagine the bigger imagine by using resilience lens and try to understand the functionality of the entire system. Adaptive cycles and threshold can work over many scales in time as well as space. Even so, a resilience system is one that is made up of several loops that function along rime and spatial scales. In the Everglades ecosystem, the members are the technical and the scientific personal who hindered the management approaches at the deserved time. In the Case Study Florida Everglades, it backs the impression that adaptive, viable organizations repeatedly show a period of novelty, preservation, creative devastation, and restitution. Those that do not fine-tune turn out to be locked into a command-and-control syndrome that can be unusually insistent.
