The four large components of culture are communication, cognitive, material and behavioral aspects (Offorma, 2016). Communication involves the use of language and symbols. Through communication, people can relate and interact with each other when they converse, share thoughts and feelings. The cognitive, cultural component, on the other hand, includes ideas, knowledge, beliefs, values, and accounts (Holloway, 1981). As a major cultural component which defines the manner in which people act, the behavioral, cultural component incorporates norms, morals, laws, folkway as well as rituals. Community high school, for example, the oneness and team spirit of students have been the driving force behind the success of the school.

Material component encompasses the equipment and objects innovated by people and which is used for practical use (Marks & Trapido, 2014). At community high school, the school motto, flag, anthem, as well as slogan, is a perfect epitome of the material component of the culture of the school. The material component over the years has helped define the values that the school upholds which include hard work, team work, honesty as well as togetherness. The values adopted by the school have become the guidelines and benchmark with which other schools have emulated the school. The values are part of the cultural symbols and have been the key to the means by which students express, understand and communicate with each other. The philosophy of the school that has stood over the years has been the reason why the community high school has been accommodative to thousands of students who are all treated equally (Parekh, 2001). The progress, success, and legacy of the school have been further promoted through coordination and cooperation from the professors. The unique language spoken in the school eliminates every form of racial segregation.

Social change according to sociologist William Fielding Ogburn is explained by culture through cultural evolution. As a matter of fact, social change undergoes through the process of invention, accumulation, diffusion as well as the adjustment (Chung & Harrison, 2015). Moreover, technological change, climate, rainfall, the attitude of place as well as people’s lifestyles contributes towards culture change. Nevertheless, cultural change is best effectuated through contact, technological evolution as well as through geographical and ecological factors (Entwistle, 2015). When two or more societies cooperatively integrate and exchange norms and beliefs, culture is transferred through the process of diffusion and acculturation. In community high school, students of different affiliations exchange ideas, information, ideas, and notions and through this distribution process, social change arises. Students from all over the world have congregated in the school, and through exchanges, their culture has been diffused with that of others.

The immigrants in the school, on the other hand, have been accepted and their culture appreciated by the fact that they have not been denied access to amenities. Through the invention, students have come up with creative ways of understanding the diversity of culture. Events such as cultural festivals, movie theater arts and music are some of the innovative activities that have been performed in the school and which have helped promote cultural diversity. Through such events, new trends, activities and exciting opportunities have been created as an appreciation of the culture that founded the move (Cox, 1994). Community High School is affiliated with students of all kind, from all tribes, languages and social classes. The educational forums that the school holds are aimed at appreciating the diversity of the cultures and increasing the bond between the students. Any student found discriminating against the other is punished.

To solicit support from the National Association for Ethnic Studies (NAES) is to come up with an initiative which would be aimed at alleviating a challenge in the society. A good example of a project would be coming up with projects that would help the community fight poverty, illnesses or managed waste. In this case, I would engage my fellow students to enroll in interdisciplinary forums which would participate, engage feedback through presentations and researches while seeking support from supporting groups. I would strive to make the best use of the grants and scholarship opportunities awarded by NAES in serving the community in an improved manner.
