The Importance of a College Education
Over the last four decades, many countries have considered education to be an essential thing across the globe. The majority of the countries embrace it. They define it as a crucial tool, establishing higher education institutions like universities and colleges and even from the lowest. Some countries have set up universities for international education where students from different countries can attend. Many states consider university and college graduates to perform a significant role in their economy, making sure they produce as many elites as possible. At the same time, parents also ensure their children get higher education. One needs to acquire a college education because it leads to the economic growth of a country, direct to self-independence, and promotes entrepreneurship.
Moreover, college education leads to the economic growth of a country. With many students graduating every year, they also pursue different courses in their various colleges and universities. The skills they acquired contribute significantly to the economy of a nation. Rumberger( 1984) explained that college graduates benefited the economy and measured how different college degrees have a comparative impact on the economy. For example, a student who took medicine in a university graduate as a professional doctor. They can secure a job in government hospitals across the country and start treating the patients. The post earned them a specific salary per month. From the salary they make, a certain amount of money deducted as tax and government use this and other charges deducted from other workers for development like building schools, hospitals e.t.c this will significantly build the economy after sometimes.
Education acquired in college can lead to one being independent.for every student who graduates from a college and university, it is their dream to get get a job of their goal. For those who manage to secure employment, the salary they get plays a vital role in their life. Considering the habit of everything being catered for by the parents, they start budgeting for their pay to meet their own needs without depending on anyone. Fan & Sturman( 2019) explain how different gender spend their wages. For instance, a man who graduated as a teacher and managed to secure a job as a mange teacher. While getting a salary of about thirty thousand, he will budget his money and pay for all the bills without depending on his parents, unlike when he was in college. Everything was provided for him.this lead to self-independent.
Also, college education has lead to the promotion of entrpenuership.universities, and colleges offer a variety of courses from different disciplines such as medicine, business, and engineering. In those courses offered, many institutions for higher learning have introduced an entrepreneurship unit in most classes. The unit covers various ways of starting a business, thus equipping the students with enough skills to begin their jobs if they don’t secure one. Barker(1939) explains how technical education helps college graduates start their business. For instance, a student who pursued a catering course and failed to secure a position as a chef can set their own bakery and earn it from it handsomely because of the skills they acquired in college.
Thus, with the above in mind, it is fair to conclude that acquiring education from college helps an individual greatly since they can use it to grow the economy of their respective countries ,enable them to depend on themselves for a living and equip with skills to run their own businesses. Education creates jobs opportunities and this enables graduates to provide for themselves from the earning they get. In addition, the growth of the economy of a country is influenced by education. Education open an environment for entrepreneurs to conduct their businesses even if they fail to secure white color jobs .Therefore it is important for parents to ensure their children acquire college education for the betterment of their future.
