Wind energy is a form of solar energy whereby wind is used to generate electricity. Man has used wind power for centuries .it was used for propelling boats, in windmills to grind grains and for pumping water. Through the years, new ways of using wind energy were discovered. Nowadays, the wind is used to generate electricity through turbines. Wind power remains the most efficient and seasoned power source due to various reasons.

Wind power is an unpolluted source of fuel, as it does not contaminate the air. Unlike other sources of energy like coal, it does not depend on the burning of fossil fuel, which emits poisonous gases that may cause damage to the health of humans and animals. Wind supply is plentiful and endless, which makes it a domestic power source.

Most sources of power are costly as they require setting up power plants, and due to the costs of fuel (Varela, 2015).Wind power is cost advantageous since the fuel used is free and therefore no fuel costs and also because the electricity is sold at a permanent price over a very long time. Another importance of wind as a source power is that, since the turbines are built on only a portion of land, they can be erected on many existing farms and ranches. This is a great benefit, especially to the people who live in the countryside areas since the landholders get additional income from the sale of electricity.

The wind sector has created very many jobs, with the turbine technician being one of the most growing occupations in America (Schumacher, 2018).  Jobs in areas such as manufacturing, setting up, maintenance, and sustaining services have been created.  Moreover, wind power has enabled the growth of the energy industry, for instance, in America, which increases its competitiveness as they can compete globally.
