The library and the librarian
On a positive note, during the reading challenge competition, librarians motivated and encouraged some students as they published their books. This is a sign that librarians can nurture students to be at their best potential. For instance, the librarians helped the students with their grammatical errors while they published their books; they also helped students be creative in their writings by adding more creative content as they were publishing their books.
SFI also points out librarians closer to the students’ age tend to attract more students to the library and also communicate easily with them. They form a closer relationship with the students, and thus students get an opportunity to learn quite a lot from the librarians.SM2 gives an example where he says that some students would prefer spending the day in the library.
One of the reasons why some students prefer the library is that the librarians use the updated digital learning equipment such as the whiteboard.SF2 gets amazed by their fluency in new advancements and applications. Also, SF2 speaks of his librarians as being very creative since they established their library catalog.
Teaching practices.
The supervisors in this study stated that their librarians should present classes throughout the school year as this would allow them to learn how to use the library effectively. For instance, one supervisor noted as librarians designed the lessons they put in place behavioral concepts and also teaching goals. Also, they taught their students how to be independent learners while in the library. For instance, they would be taught how to use the catalog, understand the call, and code of conduct while in the library, among other skills elaborated by SM1.
Librarian’s collaboration and Support to Teachers.
Since a school library is considered to be a place that changes the educational environment; thus, students, teachers, and librarians have to collaborate and work together.SF2 gives an example of how teachers collaborate with librarians by offering visit schedules and also taking replacement classes. SM1 also adds how teachers and librarians collaborate through librarians helping teachers research some information before the teachers attend classes.SM1 summarizes by saying that librarians help teachers research more on specific information, which later benefits students.
