THE OLD TESTAMENT STORY

The Old Testament represents a covenant made between God and the Israelites, Hebrews, and the Jews. The Old Testament is a library of books written between the 1200-200 BCE. The Old Testament is the Bible that Jesus used when he was preaching in the New Testament. The Old Testament is a combination of laws, poetry, wise quotes, and songs. The Old Testament was written by men of God who were guided by the Holy Spirit. The Old Testament describes the origin of humankind, their downfall and how they came to be reaccepted by God. The Old Testament has 39 books authored in different styles (Tullock & McEntire, 2012, p. 1-20). They represent a flow of generation from the origin of humankind to the birth of Jesus, who was the savior of the human race.

The Old Testament is mostly from the ancient near East set up. The Near East was a representation of the hard part of the Arabian Peninsula. Mesopotamia, the ancient name for Egypt, was one of the most popular areas where it was set up. Most of the events in the Old Testament happen between the Mesopotamia and Assyria. The story of Moses mainly is a journey where they cross the Red Sea, which separates Egypt from Asia (Tullock & McEntire, 2012, p. 23-35). This story shows that the old Biblical set up was derived from northern Africa and the Southern parts of Asia.

The first part of the Old Testament can be described as the primal part. The old testament describes the beginning of everything on earth, including the creation of human beings. It is termed as ancient because it has a lot of unclear history in it that is unexplained. The Old Testament has the ancestral complex which is the part which describes the lineage of human beings from the time of Adam and Eve who were the first people to Abraham the father of nations down to the different races (Tullock & McEntire, 2012, p. 39-58). Genesis in retrospect describes the events in the Genesis, which includes how human beings communicated with God and how they later came to fall out due to the sin of man and the consequences that followed.

Covenant- A covenant is an agreement between two or more parties.

BCE- This is a form of dating that was used before the invention of the calendar method which was dated Before Common Era or Before Christ.

Holy Spirit- It is one of the three persons that make up God the being alongside The Father, and The Son, who is Jesus Christ.

Arabian Peninsula- This is the extension of the land that projects into the red sea from the Persian Gulf.

Mesopotamia- It is an ancient meaning of between two rivers that is believed to consist of the present-day Iran, Syria, and Turkey.

Assyria- the name derived from the city Asshur on the Tigris, the original capital of the country, was originally a colony from Babylonia and was ruled by viceroys from that kingdom.

Primeval- Word used to describe things of the oldest temple in history.

Ancestral- This is the origin of a generation, where they trace their beginning.

Retrospect- It is a review of past events or occurrences.

Genesis- It is the first book of the Bible. It also means in the beginning.
