The patients’ bill of rights and informed consent is dynamic in the sense that it changes from state to state. For instance, I live in Georgia, and our country underlines that every patient has the right to make a sound decision concerning healthcare. The state of Georgia highlighted that every patient has informed consent. The patient has freedom regarding the choice of treatment in a health facility. Every Georgian citizen has the right to accept or refuse treatment. In the case a patient refuses a medical procedure, he or she is entitled to know the susceptible consequences of his or her refusal choice. Also, the patient has the right to make directives regardless of his condition. Other privileges enjoyed by the patient in the patient bill of rights include the right to know the risk involved in a medical procedure, the treatment benefits and right to get an alternative treatment. However, this of rights and informed consent formulated to strengthen the relationship between the patient and healthcare provider.
As a Georgian citizen, I believe that the informed consent and patient bill of rights are making the bond between the provider and the patient stronger. I can confirm that ever since the patient bill of rights formulated, the patients are being handled diligently by professional doctors. I believe that the patient is enjoying proper treatment as they give opportunities to know the types of procedures to administer as well as the susceptible complications associated with the procedures. Also, I believe that many patients are enjoying the maximum freedoms as highlighted in the informed consent and patient bill of rights as well.
