The remodelling and modernization of Paris took place mainly in the urban context, where the main issue was to ease congestion and provide a safer environment for people. Therefore, through such context, the construction of the roads were established, public spaces and sewer system. From the last painting, there are numerous houses separated from each other by a network of road connecting at the centre. Hence, this means that every place is accessible with ease and congestion is addressed due to many houses available. There are various aspects of the new Paris that are featured. The first one is that there is a strong network of roads and strong buildings. Also, the spacing between each building is favourable and safe for every person, which cannot encourage the transmission of various diseases.
The artist’s own relationship with the subject is social. The main aim of establishing a strong Paris was for him to leave a legacy behind that every individual can have a look at. Haussmann did not intend for any powers regarding the artwork but for the social benefits of individuals who would otherwise live in Paris. The main motive was to reduce the level of congestion in Paris and provide a safer environment for every individual’s survival. Hence, providing a safe environment that people can live in well without social problems implies that he had no motive for power, but for the social wellbeing of the people.
The appearance of Paris is very interesting when one looks at it from a point. The way the buildings and the roads are intertwined makes it to look beautiful because they end up connected at one point. This shows the creativity of the artist towards this particular work. Also, the buildings appear to be in the same structural format, hence revealing uniformity. All these components make it to look impressional.
