The spread of the coronavirus

Barriers

This practicum is majorly based on the analysis of the effects of Covid 19, and why the spread has not been successfully contained 6to date. One of the greatest outbreaks of a pandemic that the world has ever witnessed is the Covid 19 pandemic.  Numerous proportions of asymptomatic carrier diseases can easily be confused with the illness in question, and the lack of the required testing kits have even made the detection of the disease even harder. Moreover, based on this, even the acquiring of the accurate number of infected people has not been easy to achieve, and thus a high increase in infection in the streets has been noted. With the inability to contain the spread, has resulted in the exponential increase in the death tolls in the affected areas as a whole. As one of the investigators on the covid strike in Nassau, I was able to note that the ability to attain the data outbreak was a failure, and even the location of infected patients proved very hard.  The explosion of the infection figures happened in just a number of days and thus jeopardizing our spread control ability. This may, therefore, beg the question, what was the main reason for this, and how can this be stooped in other countries?

In order to curb the spread of the pandemic in other countries, it is first very essential to analyze the barriers that curbed the ability to contain the spread in the state. One of the ways that the state used in the controlling of the spread was to maintain safe physical distancing. However, situations always availed numerous instances and activities that made it very difficult to maintain the required space. Transportation, as a major factor, necessitated the need for coming together and sharing amenities, which may have led to the dramatic spread of the infection in the state.  Moreover, the lack of daily food provision due to lockdowns and economy closure made it easier for the citizens to come out on the streets and mix freely, and hence there was an avoidable spread.

Sanitization was found to be the most effective way of hindering the spread of the virus. This was generally because the sanitizers had the ability to kill the virus that may have escaped the infected individuals through the respiratory droplets. However, the sanitization really proved to be very hard, as many individuals were unaware of the importance of the sanitization process. It was noted that many shops, public amenities, and even the restaurants never sanitized as advised, and this increased the spread rates, as the virus can stay on a surface for up to nine days.  Without proper sanitizations, the infections were able to rise very fast and unnoticeable in many cases.

The masks were also provided as the best ways to stay safe. According to the World Health Organization recommendations, the masks and the gloves were essential for protection, especially in public places. However, masks and gloves met a very negative output in the states, as many individuals deemed the use of such as a show of weakling. Moreover, it was noted that the supply of the mask and the number of requirements were not in compliance, and therefore many individuals were not able to access the masks. This, therefore, increased the infection as the number of unprotected individuals in the streets made it very easy to pass and contract the infection.

The quarantine facilities also provided another set-back to the successful containing the situation. In most cases, the available facilities and the ICU beds were not able to successfully accommodate all the cases that visited the hospitals. However, this was one of the best ways that could have been used in successful containing of the situation.  This, therefore, meant that the number of individuals that shied away from the hospitals and the quarantine facilities was very high, and as a result, there were many cases that were not contained in the hospitals, and rather at home. This increased the chances of family members of such individuals contracting the disease, and even the neighbors were also at risk of being exposed to the virus.

Lastly, testing and tracing were not also taken seriously until the spread had reached the second phase. It is essential to lock down a country, stop the movement in and out of the country, especially to and from the infected states. In case a case is identified, the government should have taken the mandate of tracing the cases, and making sure that the individuals may have come in contact with the infected individuals are quarantined. However, this was not possible because the testing was not successful. With the failure in testing, the government was only able to attend to the cases that were only worse, and thus tracing the contacts was not successful. Moreover, the state was not locked down, and thus the interactions increased the spreading chances.

Recommendations

The inability to control the spread was as a result of not taking into account the set down strategies that were convenient for curbing the spread. Therefore, the best ways that a state can always to help control the spread of the virus in time are to be viable of the requirements of controlling the spread. Some of the important issues that the states should always take into account are;

  • Safe Physical distancing; this is a very important issue in the control of spread, and the goal should be implemented, both by the use of relevant authorities and even the citizens. My main assertion for this is built on the fact that the main way through which the virus is easily spread is through contact with the droplets of an infected person. Being that the droplets cannot be seen, the best and the appropriate way should be through the stopping of such contacts.
  • Appropriate sanitizations should be met; the virus is able to thrive on a surface for at least nine days. Without sanitizing the places, even if the social distancing goals are met, the surfaces will still make the spread very possible. Therefore, the overall sanitizations should be met, especially through governmental efforts.
  • The masks and protection gears should have empathized; the protection gears ar3e essential for the curbing of the disease contraction. However, the unavailability of such due to the high requirements makes it impo0ossible to control the spread. Therefore, the government should strategize towards meeting the daily masks and gloves requirements to decrease the daily infection tolls.
  • Quarantine facilities; readiness is one of the best ways that the spread can be controlled. Since the virus has no known cure, the quarantine facilities are the best ways to ensure that the infected individuals never go home to spread the virus. Therefore, the facilities should be created, and the required gadgets should be availed. This will ensure that the increase in the spread is controlled.
  • Testing and tracing implemented; the best way of dealing with the pandemic is through testing and tracking the cases. This decreases the number of infections in the streets. However, the failure to achieve this is met with high rates of infections, as there is uncontrolled spread. Therefore the government should work towards meeting the mandate of asserting that the identified cases are quarantined and kept from the public.

Discussion

The increase in the case of Corona infections is accelerating uncontrollably. Therefore, the only chances that the different states have against the pandemic is to control the spread, since there is currently no known cure or satisfied vaccine. The infections can only be controlled through, making sure that the safety mandates that are provided by the WHO are met. Moreover, failure to meet the requirements is only a high death assurance that will cost the affected states and countries. Since most of the citizens are not able to meet the required safety measures, the increase in the infection has not been controllable. It is, therefore, very effective if the government takes the mandate of ensuring that the required safety measures are met, and even providing the best grounds for such to the citizens. Moreover, this is the only sure way of reducing the cost of management of the pandemic before it reaches the full infection toll.

Conclusion

In a nut, the spread of the virus in Nassau was not met due to the laxity of controlling the pandemic. The government did not work towards achieving the goals that could have helped to stop the spread of the virus to the other parts of the states until it was way out of control. Also, the required amenities were not adequate, and as a result, the pandemic caused high death tolls in the state due to the unprepared nature of the state.  However, from this practicum, I was able to deduce that the best way that a government can use in the control of the Corona pandemic is through prevention. This is because the prevention technique is more efficient, and thus it is cheaper and very convenient for the economy.
