The subject of my paper: Project Management: Learning from Failure
Why writing about this topic will be beneficial to me: I believe project management is a very essential and sensitive subject in most organizations, especially the project-based ones. Most organizations strive to bring out the best from every project they undertake. However, they never provide room for failure, and when it happens, it sweeps them by surprise with no preparation. They say experience is the best teacher; therefore I feel that learning from various project management failures will expose me to the realities experienced in project implementation and as a result, obtain suitable lessons from the failures.
My thesis: The reality of projects is that some end up failing due to various reasons. Understanding the reasons why some projects fail is critical in preventing future failures, gaining adequate preparation in case of project failure, and taking project management to the next level of success.
Approach to the subject of my paper: This paper will stipulate the various steps and requirements in project management—the reasons behind the failure of some projects. And the relevant lessons that can be learnt from those projects and how to implement successful project management. Further, it will elucidate the factors that lead to project success and give some case studies of project failures, and the necessary lessons learnt.
Intended audience: This project will be presented to my professor for assessment. It will be presented in the presence of my classmates of PPM 3010, other professors, and any other interested parties.
Graphs or charts: Graphical representations and flowcharts of key project implementation steps and guidelines will be used. The project will also include other graphs that will be pertinent to the project for visualization.
Documentation style: APA
Types of sources I will use and why they will benefit my paper: The resources used in this term paper will be scholarly articles, historical documents, and other articles from reliable sources that will be relevant to the subject.
