Theoretical Perspectives
The theoretical approach enables to express the real world from a more understandable form through offering more insights as to why things are the way they are. Some theory is easily understandable while others are complex and therefore relating them to the actual world becomes difficult. Among the various theories discussed from different scholars’ perspectives, postmodernism theory seems easy to understand and relate to real life situations more easily than the other theories. The theory discusses the aspect of social interactions based on the forces that drive the social changes experienced. The theory acknowledges that science and technology are the major driving force for any changes in social life. The theory can be considered as being progressive in acknowledging both the present and future forces of change. Based on this approach, the scholars sought to explain various principles under which the reality is based. The reconstruction aspect used in the framing of the theory seeks to change the people reasoning to accommodate the current principles of science and technology. The theory acknowledges that the social reality is based on a large number of issues and thus cannot be explained singly since this would comprise isolation of other important issues in the process. The dynamism aspect of nature also leads to complexity in understanding and analyzing matters of social reality.
Middle range theory, on the other hand, is a complex approach to theorizing the reality which makes it more complex for the scholars to understand. The challenge is that the theorizing approach is based on existing empirical research upon which it’s grounded. The approach gives its roots and foundation than just a mire unproven theory. The theory, however, is founded on ground theories whose priority is the organization and arrangement of concepts rather than explain the social world. Due to this, therefore, the theory becomes more logically aligned but at the same time weak in explaining the aspect of the social world. Due to this postmodernism theory takes an upper arm when it comes to matter social reality than the middle range theories.
The theory postmodernism, however, discredits all the other aspects of human knowledge arguing that nothing can be proved to be true if it’s not based on a scientific principle which on this case is not true based on philosophical reasoning. The theory also falls short on matters of lacking stability on its argument since its based on the ever-changing technological and scientific platform. The theory, therefore, remains strong due to its founding principles. Despite these critiques issues of science and technology are the driving forces of social reality. Through the approach of postmodernism is considered to have liberated human beings from their traditional approaches to judgments to incorporate a more progressive way of reasoning. The social reality cannot be explained by comparing the tradition aspect of the society while avoiding the current forces shaping the same reality. Postmodernism also acknowledges that there is no universal approach to understanding different aspects of reality. Through this, therefore, the approach acknowledges that there exist other approaches through which matters of social reality can be sought and understood. The argument, therefore, makes the theory more accommodative to other aspects of social reality. The theory also is bound to change to incorporate future changes in science and technology as opposed to other stable theories.
