Third Grade Lesson Plan Draft
Learning objectives
The lesson plan structures effective student learning by pointing out what I expect them to learn at the end of each lesson. I indicate the skills and knowledge I expect the learners to demonstrate at the end of each learning activity.
Assessment(s)
I will use both Frequent and continuous formative assessment.

The Nervous System: Understanding Our Senses
DAY 1 (Class time 50 minutes)
Introduction: As a class, we shall explore how we use our senses to detect what is happening around us during the first 10 minutes. Students will indicate how they experience the five senses when they wake up in the morning of the everyday.
Lesson development (30 minutes)
In the next 30 minutes, I will explain the use of each of the five senses using a diagram. We will describe and name examples of the common misconceptions about senses.
Conclusion/Closure (10 minutes)
During the last ten minutes, the class will review what we have learned on the five senses. I will clarify the listed misconceptions. Students will write homework on senses.
DAY 2 (Class time 75 Minute)
The introduction will start with warm-up questions to review the previous lesson to test whether students can list the five senses during the first 10 minutes.
Learning activity: A sensory walk (50 minutes).
In the next lesson, we will perform a visual learning activity whereby we will visit different places around the school compound, and students will explore how the five senses work.
During the last 15 minutes, students will list what they saw, smell, hear, or touch during the walk. I will explain different sense organs in different animals.
DAY 3 (120 Minutes)
During the first 10 minutes, we will review the previous lesson using a human body model.
Learning activity: Watching video
In the next 25 minutes, we will watch a video that will guide the learners on understanding how animals use their senses for survival.
After the video, we will discuss the different sense organs in different animals observed in the video.
I will explain the connection between the senses and the brain. I will also explain the nervous system by illustrating the process of information processing by the brain.
During the last 20 minutes, we will describe how information is collected by sense receptors and processed in different parts of the brain. Lastly, we will discuss different sense organs in various living organisms in the video, including Frog, Snake, Termite, Chameleon, Bees, and Tarantulas.
I will also explain how some animals learn to like dogs learn how to use their senses as they grow and develop.
