Three ways organization might be impacted by these changes referring to models as appropriate

For an organization to plan on how to operate and make its profits, it must modify its models as the most appropriate innovative change. The approach to change models that the organization can consider includes the Lewin’s three-step model, Kotter’s theory, and the McKinsey 7 S model. The chief component of model modification is a value proposition; ideally, the value proposition is a description that differentiates the services and products of an organization from the firm’s competitors. An organization should regularly update its model, or the firm will face challenges ahead or fail to anticipate its market trends.

The change of an organization’s business model affects the organizations in the following different ways. Firstly, the models will assist the company to identify its market together with the costs it anticipates. The change enables the organization to attract more investment, motivate staff and management, and recruit its talent. Secondly, the models will assist the organization to fulfill the needs of its customers at a sustainable cost and a competitive price. The model with time will enable the company to revise its services to reflect the market demands.

Thirdly, the models will enable the organization to put aside its excitement and prepare a realistic analysis of the potential success of its business. The model will assist the organization to figure out components such as the organization’s concept, the problem it is expected to solve, how it will stay competitive in the market, how it will obtain its customers, and the exact amount of revenue it anticipates to earn.

In summary, change in an organization is crucial and model modification is the first key an organization should consider. The models will impact the organization in its daily function because new technologies and products are emerging which require a change, potentially disruptive and radical innovations, and differentiation from the competition can only be solved with the use of the models.

Explain and compare three different approaches your organization could take in managing change and the approach to change management you would recommend for your organization. (AC2.2) (approx 200 words)

Managing change and the approach to change management by an organization is like its parcel. The changes that an organization can adopt include a new business practice and a new technology. Models exist to assist in clarifying the steps that can be taken to manage the changes.

The most common approaches to change management models include Lewin’s three-step model, Kotter’s theory, and the McKinsey 7 S model. The models operate differently, and they offer different advantages and disadvantages when adopted by an organization. Lewins, change management model, involves a three-step model and happens to be one of the most popular and effective models for most organizations. Three steps include: unfreeze, change, and refreeze. The unfreeze step is the important phase of this model to break the idea of resistance. The change phase is the phase where the transition of change takes place. At this phase, it takes a long time because of the new development that occurs. The refreeze phase takes place after the change implementation.

Kotter’s theory is eight plan processes. It establishes a sense of urgency for the necessary change as people are made aware of the change. Team building is done to get the right people, and this enables cohesion. Getting the correct vision and then setting up a good communication network.  Propelling to get things moving in the right direction and when persistence is the key to achieving success.  The advantage of this model is easy to incorporate and easy to follow up on the steps. The disadvantage of this model is that a systematic model and skipping of a step achieve no result.

McKinsey 7 S Model involves seven steps: strategy where the goal and plan are setting benefits. Structure, system, shared values, style, staff, and skills. The benefit of this model offers an understanding of the organization and how it works and also offers a direct factor for organizational change. The disadvantage of this model is that it is complex as compared to the others. Organizations that have also used this model have reported many cases of failure.

For my organization, I will recommend the Lewin’s model. The model gives an illustration of the effect forces, which will enable in visualizing the strengths of opposing forces that can influence change in the organization. The model will also offer excellent insight in offsetting the weakness of employees in the company, and this will enable further success change in the firm.
