Tobacco use prevention and intervention program
Denise Fleck Memorial Scholarships is a community foundation of Louisville meant for graduating high school seniors in turkey. It is involved in tobacco prevention and intervention programs as well. I got involved in the program after I had noted that tobacco smoking is one of the most significant causes of mortality in the world. Being the head of guidance and counselling department in the organization, there are key roles concerning the move that I have to ensure that they are done right.
Community mobilization is an activity which is taken into consideration by the organization aimed at inducing change among the members of the community. The act is effected through teamwork among my colleagues, together with a few non-colleague individuals. The effectiveness of this move is that a significant change in smoking behaviour among the victims is reached. Some abandon the routine, while others reduce the rate of smoking.
Secondly, media advocacy is a routine which was implemented in the organization to achieve its objective. It involves framing an issue well then advocate it using social media platforms. However, social media advocacy is based on solid principles of planning. Significance of this feature is that the victims get to understand the effects attached to tobacco use and eventually change their behaviours.
Social marketing is one of the strategies used in our organization to prevent tobacco usage. It employs an approach that helps to create, communicate and deliver value to influence the target audience. Social marketing draws and employs the use of behavioural theory, and the final impact is it creates long term sustainable influence on the people
Conclusion
From the discussions above, it can be deduced that tobacco prevention can be effected through teamwork and commitment to work towards the goal. Denise Fleck Memorial scholarship program has incorporated various approaches to promote antismoking in Louisville.
