Topic 2 DQ 1
Managing qualitative data can be tedious due to its voluminous nature. Its nature makes researchers come up with different techniques to manage and organize for easy analysis and interpretation. Qualitative data is organized in several steps to make analysis easier. The first step is to code the whole information by making a summary of the provided information. At this step, the researcher identifies the main idea and summarizes it in a way that the information can be put under one title. This is the commonly used method in most researches where data is organized in the form of codes so that it can easily be analyzed. Data organization should follow this trend so that it can easily get identified and for easy retrieval.
Another method of managing and organizing qualitative data is by keeping only the copies that have important information. Qualitative studies involve a collection of voluminous data, thus sorting them and retaining the essential information is a way that can be used to reduce the bulk of qualitative data. Also, a system can be implemented which will catalogue all documents and artefacts in a manageable way to ease the analysis of the data. When managing qualitative data, checking for missing data allow easy management since the researcher can use complete data smoothly without getting tired. Complete data is easily analyzed regardless of it being voluminous. Another method employed is creating a system for labelling and storing data collected. The use of this method can be effective especially when a case identifier for each file is included. Searching information for analysis in such a system is easy, hence an effecting method for organizing and managing qualitative data.
