Totalitarian Restrictions
A state may be compelled to restrict freedoms and exercise an extremely high degree of control over public and private lives. It occurs under certain uncontrollable circumstances, which may be a peril to human life hence bringing the need for protection. In connection to this, over the past six months, there was an outbreak of an infectious disease called Corona virus disease (COVID-19). The pandemic disease sensitized some states to opt for restriction of freedoms of movement and association among the inhabitants since the virus can be easily transmitted from one person to another through contacts (Guan et Al.2020).
However, taking into consideration the loss a particular state will incur by not implementing those restriction, can only be formulated by exercising power to meet its objective for the benefit of the human life and public at large. For instance, in China where the virus originated from, it caused so much deaths and loss to both public and private resources which were used to cater for medical expenses but unfortunately it did not turn out fully to the expectations of the affected since death cases increased day by day. In China, some of the restrictions that the state made were an example of total lockdown. The lockdown started in Wuhan City which is ascertained to be the centre of the outbreak. It was initiated on January 23 following hundreds of thousand cases of new victims which were reported in that city. Due to this, the high rates of deaths made some medical institution fail since there was insufficiency in admission and treatment capability which caused overloading in the hospitals and even the medics were overwhelmed with the patients. Following this, the state banned movement in and out of the city even for those who had important or humanitarian reasons. There was no public transport as well as cars on the roads only the vehicles with special permission were permitted on the roads. This effect also led to closure of schools and universities which extended their holiday indefinitely. All shops were closed with an exception of the ones selling foods or medicine which aided in making the streets empty and silence giving a serene atmosphere to curb the spread of pandemic disease.
Global community since it is prone to the pandemic disease can make earlier arrangements on how to curb disease to prevent the loss to the nation. The achievement of these measures is through emulation from the other states. In connection to this, taking China’s measures taken towards the battle with Corona virus has a great impact to the global community and also much importance since its adoption can help the global to fight the pandemic disease. The information then can help the global community to be sensitized by the affected states by the look of the economic and social loss that the virus brings then it can be in a position to create awareness to its inhabitants and promote the health standards for health living. The measure taken by China is also important to the global community since different states can get the essence of total lockdown which can be adopted to avoid congestion of people which reduces contact hence less cases to be reported. The awareness has also provided detailed information to global about the nature of the virus which allows the unaffected states develop a medical way to either treat the virus or offer an immunization against it. This will enable the developed measures be transmitted to the rest of the world before the virus gets into its tip. It also enables a certain a nation set a certain emergency income from the budgeted one for specifically the pandemic disease. This prepares the nation to account for the medical requirements and equipments which are required to successfully attend a large affected population to save many lives. The economy will be in a position to acquire more trained personnel or sponsor the training of the already existing medical attendances on the medicinal approach toward the virus. Therefore, global community depends on the affected ones to acquire and adopt new plans which will help the unaffected to easily curb the disease by use of the past experiences from the affected nations. The message that is send by the affected has so much impact to the rest of the world. Taking such measures will eventually promote the economic and social structure of the global community.
However, the reliability of the measures taken to curb more spread of the pandemic can not only be adopted from China but also from outside influences which can be applied to fight the pandemic. Following the trends of different nations on the adaptations to the fight of the virus can give vivid description on further methods that be used to manage the disease. One of the influences that was eyed and used by some states was the invention of face masks which were essential in the prevention of the contacts fluids that are scientifically proven to have a high affinity to the corona virus. This has saved the lives of the unaffected from the affected especially in the most congested places considering the states which have not adopted the lockdown restriction. There was also invention of hand washing sanitizers which had a great influence to different states a measure which helped people to kill the virus by washing their hands using the modified sanitizers. There was also an influence of avoidance of contacts while interacting with each other by maintaining a particular social distance from each other. This enabled the unaffected from getting into closer contacts with the affected since the disease can easily be transmitted from one particular person to another.
In conclusion, the article is not neutral since it exposes positivity towards the fight for the pandemic disease. It is an issue of concern where it involves the freedom of the people where the state is forced to do a total lockdown for the benefit of the inhabitants. The article has shown the effort different states are playing to protect public and private lives at large. It has also explained deeply the impact it has brought to the world at large by showing the roles that each state has played toward the fight for the virus.
