Types of teams in organizations
The executive committee is an example of a committee in Kuwait Indo Trading Company (KITCO). An executive committee is a small group which has close ties through the leadership of the company who can get together, to address arising issues that affect the company substantially, for example, an emerging crisis. The executive committee has various functions in the company. First, the executive committee has the role of providing the direction of the company and acting on behalf of the board members. Also, the executive committee provides oversight for the company, which include overseeing the policies on ethics, human resources and quality management of the company. Moreover, the executive committee enhances communication among the board members, committees and the staff. Lastly, the executive committee has a role of managing issues among the workers in the company.
The taskforce is a smaller group of four to twelves people who brings together specific to accomplish a short-term task. Human resource department is an example of the task force in Kuwait Indo Trading Company. Some of the critical functions of the human resource department include hiring, recruiting and firing of employees, giving training to workers and interpreting laws of employment in the company. Also, the human resource department works diligently behind the scenes to ensure the company runs in an effective manner. Human resource department also has a role of resolving all the conflicts among the employees in the company.
Product development teams are ways to re-organize personnel who are involved in product development to facilitate the informal form of communication, sharing of requirements and ideas early in the product development cycle. The infrastructure team is an example of product development teams. This infrastructure team is involved in industrial design, marketing and manufacturing of products. They have facilities and equipment for design and development, and also for testing and verification of companies’ products. Also,
Quality assurance team is a team that conducts activities that validate quality requirement, and it involves planning, observation and inspections. Software teams are an example of a quality assurance team. The role of these teams is to come up with their own built-in quality team. This is helpful because communication plays a crucial role in the quality assurance process, and it keeps the development team from “throwing it over the fence” to the quality assurance team.
A self-Directed work team is a group of individuals, usually employees of an organization. They combine different skills and talents to work without any form of supervision from their managers towards achieving the goals of the company. The function of this team provides an increased sense of ownership to the employees of the company so that the employees who are willing to assume a greater level of responsibility for the outcomes while minimizing the cost levels of management.
