useful medical services of patients
Hello Shirley,
Thank you for your post. I agree with your opinion that patients should not be deprived of two major useful medical services which are useless tests and treatments that cause harm. Despite the fact that the patient continuously used drug even after the first valve replacement it is ethical that his right should be prevailed by the caregiver which is to accept in replacing the valve for the second time. The team ought to understand the reason why the patient still took drugs even after being in the same critical situation before judging and making any decision which is an ethical requirement in healthcare system practice. If the team conclusion is against the code of ethics principles of beneficence and non-maleficence which requires that the caregiver should work towards the benefit of the patient and ensure that no harm is caused which in this case would be a failure to replace the valve and cause end-of-life to the patient (Butts & Rich, 2019).Additionally, I support your argument that if research study was to be conducted it is ethical to include the patient as a subject which would help to determine the risk factor of recurrent infections and subsequent operations to patients with the same experience.
