Using Social Media against Cosmetic Animal Testing
Social Media has grown to become a valuable tool that can be used to communicate information to a wide number of people. With the increased usage of Animals to test various products if they are fit for humans, this goes against the rights of animals. This is why I want to use social media to run a campaign that will highlight some of the harmful effects of this practice, and use respect the rights of animals too. One of the main reasons that I want to use Social Media as a platform to run my campaign is due to the fact that a lot of people use social media and it will be easier to reach people of all age brackets. From the old to the young and this will be very effective in ensuring that everybody has been informed on the importance of animals, and that they also undergo pain and suffering when some of these products are used on them.
We have had incidences whereby some animals have been very helpful to mankind, such as dogs which give us protection and even horses which can be used for transport. Using animals as creatures is extremely wrong, as every animal has a right to be treated properly. Burawoy talks about the importance of social movements as they help advocate for protection against a group and not individual benefit. By engaging other people through social media, our voices will be able to be heard, and the use of animals for experimental purposes will be stopped.
