Definition:
Vaccination can be defined as the administration of antigen components into individuals to induce protective immunity against infectious disease (Bloom, 2011).
Why Vaccination?
§ Vaccines prevent you from getting sick.
§ They control diseases that threaten lives
§ It protects the community at large
How Vaccination Works
§ Vaccines teach the body cells to recognize the new disease. The vaccines then stimulate the body to develop antibodies against the antigens recognized.

How they vaccinations are administered
Vaccines are given in different forms:
Ø A protein
Ø Inactivated pathogen
Ø Toxoids from a pathogen
Ø Weakened pathogen

§ The vaccines expose the body to a safe version of a disease. The body responds it builds an adaptive immune response.
