Victim Issues Journal: 8-2: Reflecting on Course Objectives
Reflecting on Course Objectives
Throughout the course, I was able to meet all the term’s course objectives. I have learned more about different crime theories, mainly how they affect society and the community at large. Basically, I believe I am now able to distinguish the effect of victimization on the New York City community. I have also learned how to identify the different characteristics of offenders and victims, along with how I can apply the crime theories to various cases. This has, therefore, enabled me to learn how to articulate and analyze different influences that lead to wicked thoughts and v.
I believe that having learned how to articulate and analyze different factors that influence offenders and crime victims, and I will be able to advance in my career as a social worker in New York City and beyond. I can now work effectively with this victim as they go through the stigmatization period as a result of what happened to them after a crime. This is because I can now understand various factors that may have influenced the offenders to commit a crime. Although this may not help the victims feel better, it will allow me as a social worker to understand what happened and how I can adequately support the victims to heal and move on with life. The course is an excellent starting point as I combine the experience I have learned about victimization with my expertise in psychology. Moreover, this will help me to continue with other classes with a better understanding of victimization theories. I look forward to using what I have learned in the course to be a better social worker in New York City and beyond.
