Week One Reflection
The cultural achievement I have learned this week is on the gradual civilization Mesopotamia, ancient Egypt, and Judea had in the past. Civilization in their communities led to inventions of many things such as “the invention of the 60- minute hour, 24hours day and 360 degrees circles” invented in Mesopotamia (Glaz, 2019). This civilization was essential to them since they were able to learn new ideas that were helpful to their lives. For example, the art carried out by these people led to their recognition of gods and goddesses they worshipped. Civilization is connected to today’s culture. Their knowledge is being used by today’s generations to come up with more modernized tools that are easy to work with and use lighter raw materials (Wallace, 1882). For example, Judea’s glassmaking to make decorations or jewelry in the past is still used by people today to make decorations.
