Weekly activities
The following are activities that I carry out during the week. This week was more of a preparation for the mentorship. We had a series of meetings to discuss how we were going to conduct the mentorship.

I researched SEO. I found that many clients needed professionals who are experts in SEO. Being a Virtual Assistant I had to research and explore more about the SEO. I also bid for assignments in Upwork. Being new to Upwork I had to be consistent in bidding for assignments.
In the afternoon I had a list of youths to contact to prep them about the Ajira and the upcoming training.

I researched on Upwork and Fivver. My accounts are still new and I have to continue building my profile and gigs. With the help of Nicholas, Center Manager I was able to make a lot of changes that need to be done for my account to stand out. On the same day, we had Eunice’s memorial service. Eunice was a colleague, Center Manager.

I attended the DigiSpace, Virtual Assistant meeting. The agendas for the meeting were: Mentorship, week activities, and the success story. We discussed the best way to do the mentorship i.e. how we could assist the youths to open the online platform account, write a catchy profile, and get jobs and decent earning. My team agreed to work hard to ensure we get a success story from our mentee. We also agree to work as a team to mentor.

I attended Virtual Assistant Mentorship Induction (Mentor-Mentee Matching). We had a combined meeting with management, all center mangers, and all the mentees. Management highlighted what was expected from the mentee, DO, and DON’T for the mentorship, mentorship hours, duration of mentorship. There was a breakout session, where mentors and mentees met to know each other, share their expectations, and plan the time they were going to meet.

Attended mentorship meeting from 8 am to 9.40 am. Where the management was guiding us on how the mentorship program was going to be done, from mentee assignment, assessment, and the success story. We did another meeting with the Virtual Assistant Mentors to deliberate on the way we would have wished the mentorship to be done. Following are what was discussed:
MENTORSHIP APPROACH
A meeting was held by Virtual Assistant Mentors to deliberate on the way forward and the highlights include:
- Creating a google spreadsheet to aid with the collection of Mentee details as such: Name, Email, Phone Number, Platform Registered, and prior experience to assist with knowing the mentees and working on the tracking tool.
- Have an assessment done: personality and career focus to understand the mentees’ strengths and abilities to understand how to go about case-to-case interactions and capabilities.
- First engagement should seek to connect the mentors and mentees and create a friendly environment where the mentors should seek to acquaint themselves with the mentees to create a team spirit.
- Collaborating as VA mentors will be key. On this note, Mr. Mundia suggests that even after getting smaller mentorship groups; we keep this group for future consultations and discussions on matters arising from Mentorship

Challenges
Some PSC Interns complained that their supervisors were not aware of the mentorship and it might be hard for them to get time for both mentorship and assignments. Some also complained that they might not get bundles daily to access the online meetings.
Conclusion
We have had a busy week in preparation for the mentorship and I am ready to mentor and work with my fellow Center Managers to change the lives of the youths.
Recommendation
Trainers to be part of the mentorship team especially the first week where many trainees will be having a lot of challenges, especially with their accounts.
