What aspect of this course was most useful?
The course was the best regarding various aspects. One of the most useful elements is class discussion and responses. I can attest that they have played a significant role in helping me comprehend the topics well. Engagement with the classmates helped bring a lively virtual discussion that helped me keep my mind of the current pandemic of Covid-19. Also, the class had practice quizzes that helped me test my knowledge of every topic in each of the weeks. Although they were ungraded, I took some of them to test what I had learned in that module. Finally, the professor availed the relevant materials for learning, which made it easy to navigate through the class. I can’t also forget how the class was lenient to me.
What is one of the most surprising and/or valuable thing(s) you learned from this course that you did not know before or that you did not know you would study?
Some of the most valuable things that I learned from the course regard compensation, benefits, retention, and motivation. I knew that employees were attracted to a better salary, but I did not know that employee engagement also contributed to a higher retention ability for an organization. I also learned the various perks and benefits that happen to influence an employee’s decision to stay in a company, which made me realize that motivation for the employees can occur in various forms.
How will it help you in the future?
The course will be of great help in the future, especially if I am lucky to land a human resource job. It will enable me not only to motivate the employees but also to help in retaining them by employing better management practices as well as performance evaluation to help achieve the organization’s objectives. Furthermore, the course has taught me to have an open mind in the management of employees.
What did you like the most about this course?
One thing that I liked about the class is the ease of navigation. I had an easy time accessing the lecture notes and assignments as well as discussions. I also liked the organization and how the professor provided us with the discussion questions. Choosing between two gave me a better chance of answering questions that I was more conversant with, thus helped me score better and contribute to class discussions.
What did you find to be most challenging?
The course had minimal challenges, but I can say the biggest challenge I had was time on my side. Sometimes it was a challenge for me to post the discussion before time, and I almost was caught off-guard. Next time I will have to make a schedule so that I won’t make the same mistake again.
How would you recommend changing or improving in this course?
I would recommend that the given quizzes after every week be graded as this will help students get a better insight into the course. Besides, when the quizzes are included in the final grade, students will take them more seriously.
