A1. What health benefits might wine have?
Wine contains antioxidants. Antioxidants are essential
in the body as they help prevent any damage caused by free radicals in the
body. Again, antioxidants help prevent diseases like diabetes, heart disease,
stroke, and cancer. Additionally, wine slows the aging process of a person.
According to …red wine contains more antioxidants than white wine. Taking a
a glass of wine daily is believed to boost the immune system thus, reduce
the risk of infections.
- How might ageist stereotypes have a negative effect on
aging?
Ageism is discrimination against people based on their age.
Aging is a natural process, and discrimination because of age should be
discouraged. This is because it has negative impacts on the individuals
subjected to such stereotypes. One negative effect of ageist stereotypes is it
affects the health of the individual. It affects the cognitive, physical, as
well as, physiological function of a person. For example, a person who is
subjected to ageism may see themselves as a burden to their families. If such a person falls sick, they do not like seeking medical help out
of the fear of being perceived as dependent and helpless.
- In
everyday language, what effect does
the drug Bexarotene have on the brain? And, how would this be effective in
treating Alzheimer’s disease?
Bexarotene is a drug that is used by cancer patients.
Bexarotene is believed to lower brain AB (proteins that are harmful) as well as
plaque load in the brain. This is very advantageous for patients with
Alzheimer’s disease, it helps them improve their behavior by enhancing their
cognitive functions. Reducing harmful proteins is essential as the brain’s activities
are not damaged by these proteins. This slows down the progression of the
disease, and it makes it more manageable. However, Bexarotene is not an
effective treatment for Alzheimer’s because of its side effects. For example, it
has high levels of cholesterol.
- What are your favorite foods that are high in
antioxidants?
My favorite foods in antioxidants are Strawberries,
Blueberries and Raspberries these fruits are rich in minerals and vitamins.
Additionally, they contain low levels of cholesterol. Another food rich in
antioxidants is spinach and kales. Spinach contains minerals and vitamins,

contains nutrients that help in reducing the cholesterol levels in the body.

- Free for all: What was your reaction to the New
Orleans Second Line funeral?
I think that second line funerals are just as important
as the other funerals. In second-line funerals, I feel that the life of the
deceased is celebrated and appreciated more. Second-line funerals are part of
the New Orleans culture, and it makes the city famous and rich in the culture of
Second Line Funerals. Again, I believe it is a kind gesture to the dead because
death and funerals only come once. For this reason, I think that a proper
send-off for a loved one is important.
