White people privilege is a term everyone has heard in their lifetime. It is the unseen force that seems to cater to the need of the white people even at the other groups’ expense. Privileges are the benefit a specific group of people gets because they fit in a specific group. It could be based on color, wealth, and many more. However, it is imperative to note that a person can be privileged in one way and unprivileged. While when talking about privilege, the issue of race also comes up; the two terms are not mutually inclusive. There are different forms of privileges. One of them is religious privileges, people get favorable treatment because of their religious affiliation, and another privilege is class. It has everything to do with wealth; the more money one has, the better they get treated. During the holocaust, the privileges were according to the religious affiliations of a person. The Jews in Germany faced the wrath of the German soldiers for nothing more than their affiliations. In the book, the hiding place gives the horrors of the Jews in Holland after Germany’s defeat. The family of Ten Booms tried to help as many Jews as they could. Corrie and her family risked their freedom more than once to help those escaping from the soldiers.

The hiding place is a book riddled with occasions of religious privileges. One of the things the Jews were denied was the access to the public places. They were barred from restaurants. The soldiers would beat them up and throw them out of these places. People like Corrie and other Christians did not experience this discrimination. Because of their religion, the Jews were forced to hide in their houses. At some point, the soldiers looted their jobs, taking their livelihoods with no regard for how they would survive. Corrie would go and pick and drop the work at the Jews’ house so that they could avoid being arrested.

Another thing that people like Corrie did not have to worry about is the ration cards. It was the only way to feed families due to a shortage of food. However, the Jews were denied ration cards. Most of them went hungry because they had no way to get food. Corrie resulted in stealing the cards to help feed her people. The Jews were always at the danger of being deported and taken to concentration camps. It was the cause of many broken families.

According to Corrie, as much as the Germans were responsible for the Jews’ suffering, the duct people contributed to the religious privilege narrative. The fact that some people would rather have more ration at the expense of their fellow or citizen was driving a nail in AA coffin. A very tolerant father had raised Corrie; it means he tried to understand other people, which made them have different views on who was the victim of religious privilege. While in town, they saw the Jews being harassed by the soldiers. While Corrie’s heart went to the Jews, her father’s heart went to the solders. Another instance is when they were locked up with Betsie when talking about opening a place for the camp survivors; Betsie meant the solders while Corrie talked about the Jews. Although the two saw the secretion’s effect, they both had different ideas of who the victim was.

Holocaust remains one of the greets human tragedies, it resulted in the death of many people who did nothing but be born Jews.
