Wilson did not maintain his campaign slogan (“He kept us out of war”).
The cause of President Woodrow Wilson not keeping his campaign slogan and entering into World War 1, was because the German disrespected the lives of Americans. In May 1915, the German managed to sink the U-boat American passenger Ocean Lusitania. The sinking of the liner Lusitania led to the deaths of about 2,000 Americans who were boarding. In early 1917, the Germans executed an unrestricted warfare policy in the submarine. The decision of Germans adopting the policy made Wilson warn the Germans against such kind of warfare. Woodrow further stated that if the submarine warfare did not end, America would intervene. Above and beyond, Mexico had to join German to attack and recover Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas from the United States.
I tend to believe that President Wilson was right by declaring a war against Germany. Even though some people tend to think that the United States had no substantial impact on the war, I take it from a positive perspective. America, by just sending its troops to fight, the European countries realized that the United States has the power of winning the battle. The soldiers of the United States gave their friends the recovery that is required to win the war. American troops incorporating Indians in keeping the messages from interceptions indicated genius capabilities. As a result, the Germans troops would not able to tress the movements of American troops
