The success of any organization depends on the ability of its top managers to understand the safety measures regarding their employees. Improvisation of well-laid safety guidelines will prevent loss of employees to injuries that arise from accidents, and sometimes their life claimed. Several types of hazards may occur in a workplace, and the management should look into. Such will include; Physical risks for example slippery floors, obstacles on the walkways, machinery which is misused or even excessive noise. Chemical dangers will consist of gases, fumes, vapor from steams, and dust. Another category is ergonomic hazards, which include inappropriate designs of the equipment’s, unworkable workstation designs or the workflow of manual handling of the workflow. Radiation is another danger which comes from emissions like x-rays and the gamma rays. Additionally, psychological hazards will include workload which deals with the public and the associated harassment. Finally, biological hazards will consist of bacterial infection, viruses, fungi or even parasites that may occur through cuts, bites from insects or contacts that may occur with an infected person or objects that have been in contamination. (Ahmed, 2015). Safety at the workplace will range from individual, team, or organization as illustrated below.
Personal safety will include; wearing protective clothing such as masks, helmets, gloves when getting in contact with gases or chemicals that may, in return, become reactive with your skin. Before entering the workplace, it is always advisable to park in a well-populated parking lot to avoid chances of theft. More so, it’s wise to check around for anyone hovering around the place to avoid being tracked down. Before leaving the workplace, notifying staff on whether you are working late and the time to get home. Taking notice of an outsider before leaving is safe, and if suspicious, one can use the alarms or contact the security personnel. It is also good to work in well-ventilated rooms to avoid the risk of any job; the following factors can be taken into account. A personal alarm bearing a monitoring access. Also it is good to work in secured locations with random patrols and a security officer always at the end of the shift or throughout the working period.
Team safety is another significance to take a glance. During moments of traveling, it’s a recommendation that the teams will remain in possession of adequate communication systems such as well charged mobile phones and an accessible work email. They should leave an itinerary staff who can be contacted in case of an emergency. Also, taking care of team health is a key during traveling, for example, during air travel and a team of medical assistants should be on standby in case of occurrence of a sudden illness. Devices such as the foreign policy of workers, issuing of risk assessment questionnaires for the workers to complete. About that is the fact that the management can carry a thorough visit to the workplace to verify the team’s risk assessment.
An organization can ensure that its employees are not harassed in any form whether harassment from the management or respective employee should be highly prohibited. The organization can include information during the induction training of the new staff or a team of returning staffs. It is providing workplace harassment and the anti-discrimination training programs to all groups of crews. However, an organization should ensure it has well laid out the structure of responsive leaders with each assigned to a strategic stage of production. This is to avoid confusion among the teams. Equipping the firm with the proper technology will reduce costs and boost profits. The management should ensure that the business is strategically located and the necessary amenities such as water, electricity, a noise-free environment is available.
