Organizational Culture: Case of Apple Inc.
An organization’s organizational culture is essential to organizational success. This culture, which entails the company’s philosophy, values, and beliefs, and employee conduct, determines partly, the direction of the organization. This discussion will use the case study of Apple Inc.’s corporate culture in discussing the concept of organizational culture.
As a major competitor in the IT, customer electronics, and online services industry, Apple Inc has designed its culture to enhance innovation among its enterprises (Narayan & Dr. Ramu, 2018). the notable market culture identifies with a strict focus on world-class innovation that surpasses any current conventions (Meyer, 2019). this culture, attributable to the organization’s success, has five principal characteristics. First, is a policy to only hire the best employees available, where underperforming employees are hastily fired (Meyer, 2019). second is creativity among its employees, especially at product design. Secrecy has also been part of Apple Inc.’s culture, with policies requiring employees to keep business information to themselves (Meyer, 2019).
While the current organizational culture at the company has given it a notable success, there are a few potential areas for improvement. The strict culture has notably had a high employee turnover rate, which may be costly to the firm. Also, the combativeness used in its leadership significantly affect employee socialization and morale, which may also limit employee productivity. As part of the management team; therefore, it would be necessary to reduce the combativeness. Without significantly altering the current culture, the said changes would probably see an improvement in performance (Narayan & Dr. Ramu, 2018).
In conclusion, therefore, the case of Apple Inc illustrates an influential organizational culture, set around innovation, secrecy, combativeness, top-notch excellence, and creativity. However, a few recommendations would improve the current performance.
