Knowledge
My name is Marcy Mendez, and I have been working in law enforcement for the last six years. Based on my experience as a law enforcement officer, I recognize the crucial role that technologies play in the profession. Therefore, I am looking forward to the class ‘CJ Management Information Systems’ and have a lot of expectations from the class. From the class, I expect to gain knowledge and understand some of the major technologies used in law enforcement. The class material should provide relevant information on the limitations, strengths, and potentials of criminal justice management technologies, especially those used in the law enforcement profession. I also expect the class to provide some historical background on technology adoption in the criminal justice system and how their embracement has impacted the system and the fight against crime. While covering the aspects mentioned above, I further expect that the class will provide insights into the historical, theoretical, and practical developments of technology in criminal justice. Additionally, I also hope that the class will explain how technology has changed crime and created new types of crimes in the United States.
Skills
As a law enforcement professional, I also expect to gain specific skills from the class. I hope that I will be able to develop information, technology, research, and computer literacy skills through practical exercises from the class. As law enforcement agencies continue to adopt more technologies in the United States, the skills mentioned above have become more crucial than ever. Many agencies are encouraging their personnel to gain skills that will promote the use of information and technology in crime-fighting. Other skills that I expect to develop from attending the class include communication, creative thinking, critical, and problem-solving skills.
