Acquired proficiencies through the course
The education environment equips students with different skills, primarily through the activities of the adopted curriculum. Active learners will always make efforts to improve their competence level and apply them in their daily lives and learning process. As we were going through various class lessons, we acquired many skills connected to the subject. Specifically, I was able to develop skills like note-taking, memorization, and time management. With this, I will be establishing into detail these skills in terms of their acquisition and application within the process of educational career. I will also include some examples from the specific curriculum activities that initiated such skills.
Note-taking skills
Note-taking is a process of recording important ideas for future reference. The nature of notes takes determines the quality and validity of such references. As a skill, it includes a careful selection of brief and relevant data from the more critical document. This course presented many activities such as a review of other peer essays, which required the creation of brief notes on the particular essays. From such schemes, I developed skills of note-taking and considering my education career, and this skill will assist me in developing appropriate notes on specific subjects. This skill will help me assist other learners by identifying and recording areas that require improvement within their developed essays.
Memorization expertise
Subsequently, this skill accompanies learners through their stages of the learning process and even after education. Many rules occur during learning, such as the creation of paragraphs, selection of words, and sentence development, and such rules require memorization. Then, memorization skills are critical for the general education process. As we were going through this course, taking part in learning note-taking and paragraph developments within the essays expedited memorization skills. In succession, memorization becomes essential to me during my academic career. It will help me remember critical rules and guides regarding essay creation of written communication or rather the literary works.
Time management
Time management is a factor that is critical in many sectors, including the learning process. It helps to effectively utilize the available time to gain maximum knowledge. For example, when I was developing an essay to support the adoption of free community college in America, I had to create an outline with the main points listed. The aim of this was to avoid taking much time to search for information during the dime of actual essay writing. Numerous outlines that I made through the course initiated the skills of time management. Therefore, this skill will help me utilize learning opportunities within a limited time exclusively during my academic career and beyond the learning context.
In general, an engaging academic institution prioritizes the learners’ growth in terms of skills and ability to utilize the available resources. Regarding this, my learning was facilitated by the curricula activities guided by the professor, such as writing essays, reviewing articles, and forming counterarguments. Such schemes have resulted in the discussed skills like time management, note-taking, and memorization. Applying such proficiencies will benefit my entire academic career and also in the general life application.
