Business Ethics and Profit

Business ethics are simply the personal moral behavior that a business owner should adhere to their business premises. Profit, on the other hand, is the amount gained by the owner of any business enterprise basing on the amounts spent and earned after the business transactions. The issue of ethics and profits go in hand for the success of various enterprises. I unfortunately, I’m afraid I have to disagree as some business enterprises flourish, and their members do not observe business ethics.

I will base my arguments in the following business sectors. The vast entertainment sector, the telecommunication and service delivery sector, and lastly, the beverages sector, especially on the sale of alcohol and other healthy beverages. The above industries fortunately succeed, but they do not are endowed with controversies of individuals and owners who are not ethically principled.

The Entertainment Sector

The entertainment docket is a vast and accessible sector. The field is graced with young individuals who tend to be attracted by the various artist and entailment. My argument will be based on the music industry (Doorley & Garcia, 2020). Multiple artists have graced the field from different backgrounds. The majority come from poor settings. They are, fortunately, successful, and they end up having a lot of money. Sadly the content that they sing is entirely immoral. The best example is the genre of hip-hop music.

The hip hop genre often sings about the consumption of alcohol, women, and drugs. Their videos are quite obscene and immoral in social settings. Some of the videos propagate acts of violence, which is quite unfortunate. Surprise, they are heavily viewed on the media platforms and supported by the people, especially the youth. The individuals make a lot of money, and they survive with job opportunities as their primary careers. The hustle truly pays, but their job descriptions are quite deplorable ethically speaking.

I genially support the entertainment industry. The secular music docket surprisingly is quite booming, and various individuals make ends meet. I am of the view that their content should be pushed and sold widely to their audience, but there should be a regulatory measure taken to safeguard community ethics especially the children or the minors in society

The Beverage Sector

The sale of beverages is quite a lucrative sector. My focus will be on the sale of alcohol and the other healthy drinks. The industry has many customers to my surprise. The said sector contributes a significant portion to any countries economy (Christiansted al, .2020). The production, however, is faced with various challenges. The selling points of such products that are inclusive of the bars and multiple hangouts have been turned to be breeding points of immoral behavior.

The venues are turned in to places of selling illegal drugs, fighting arenas for the drunkards lastly, sites for prostitution activities. The owners of the sites are making money, but the actives happening in those venues are quite immoral. Some people may argue that these are places are entertainment joints, but they are filled with immoral happenings in their midst.

The authorities are often visitors to such places, and some have formed cartels that allow such illegal business to continue. The business of selling alcohol and other healthy beverages is not a bad business venture. I am for the opinion that such venues should restore some rules and order in their business premises. The areas should also follow the required guidelines by the regulatory authorities put in place. When the above activities are undertaken, it will be a win for everyone in that sector, not only the business owners but also the customers who go to enjoy themselves. Thus such business should not be closed, but appropriate diplomacy measures should be employed.

The Service Provision Sector

The service provision sector is quite a vital field in the current century. The internet is the order of the day in the current generation. The various companies that are in charge of network and service provision make billions of money in their businesses. The current generation, especially the youth, are entirely engaged in the various social media platforms regularly.

The older generation, on the other hand, is not left out. They are also involved in communication activities, especially the use of telephones when making a call to their loved ones. The companies that provide such services, unfortunately, exploit their customers. Most of them tend to cover charge their rates on the case of buying of data and selling’s of credit for purposes of calling (Cateora et al.,. 2020) Most people find themselves coping with the situation, which is quite unfortunate. Example of such companies includes AT and T Mobility Company and Verizon wireless company located in the United States.

The same telecommunication organizations are involved with the abrupt sacking of their employees. This is unfortunately against the ethical codes of employing workers. Such telecommunication organizations are making profits and add revenues to the economies of various countries. They are making profits, but unfortunately, they are not ethical (Alafia et al., 2020). I hold the view that such companies should not be shut, but the obliged regulatory institutions should put them into scrutiny and hold them into account.

Conclusion

The phenomena that profit surpasses ethics in various business settings are very authentic. Different sectors like the ones mention above flourish, but they violate the various ethical protocols. Such businesses should not be shut be the various obligated governmental authorities should put them to account. Such an industry contributes quite significant portions to the different economies of their countries. The solution to the regulation of the business and also engage the various stakeholders and challenges them to uphold ethical utterances.
